Biography

Javiera’s current research explores the connection among madness, race and trauma in twentieth-and twenty-first century novels. During her time in graduate school, she was awarded a Graduate Dissertation Fellowship and the Graduate Student Spotlight Award.

In Spring 2025, Javiera was selected for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Research and Academic Exchange at Harvard University, which is a competitive opportunity reserved for late stage doctoral and post doctoral students. At present, Javiera is currently working on a book project. 

With nearly a decade of teaching experience at the high school and secondary levels, Javiera brings compassion, intellectual curiosity and rigor to tutoring sessions to help sharpen students’ critical thinking skills and build confidence.

Approach to Tutoring

Javiera believes relationship building is vital to the learning process. Therefore, she incorporates students' interests into lessons to help students take ownership of their learning. Her pedagogy is designed to help students develop both skill and confidence. 

When Not Tutoring

Outside of academia, Javiera enjoys learning through travel.
