Biography
Julia completed her M.A. in Biological Chemistry at Harvard University, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and History of Science with summa cum laude distinction and election to Phi Beta Kappa. Her research bridges chemistry, medicine, and public health — exploring the biological mechanisms and social dimensions of women’s health and endocrinology.
At Harvard, Julia has served as a Teaching Fellow in Organic Chemistry, guiding over 200 undergraduate and extension students through complex laboratory experiments and analytical techniques. Her teaching excellence was recognized with the Harvard Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology Certificate of Distinction in Teaching.
Beyond the classroom, her research at Harvard, Boston Children’s Hospital, University of Michigan, the National Institutes of Health, and the Joslin Diabetes Centerhas led to multiple peer-reviewed publications in journals such as The American Journal of Medical Ethics and The Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Her academic work has earned numerous awards, including the Harvard Student Organization of the Year, the Herchel Smith Undergraduate Science Fellowship, and the Harvard Detur Book Prize.
Approach to Tutoring
Julia combines her love for science with a commitment to clear, structured teaching. She helps students build confidence by breaking down complex chemical and biological concepts into intuitive, logical steps. Her tutoring style emphasizes understanding over memorization — nurturing analytical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific curiosity in every student she works with.
When Not Tutoring
Outside of teaching and research, Julia enjoys mentoring aspiring scientists, exploring intersections between medicine and ethics, and contributing to research that promotes inclusive, evidence-based science education.
