Biography

Louisa La Farge is an accomplished science educator with over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience across the Bay Area. A graduate of the University of Michigan with California teaching credentials in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Multiple Subjects (K–8), she has dedicated her career to inspiring curiosity and confidence in students pursuing STEM.  

Before joining Timeless Tutoring, Louisa served as Science Department Chair and Teacher at Mercy High School in Burlingame, where she taught AP Biology, Honors Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy & Physiology. Under her leadership, the AP Biology program achieved an 80% pass rate for six consecutive years. 

She also oversaw professional development for STEM faculty and managed departmental technology and curriculum initiatives.

Her teaching career also includes roles at San Mateo Union High School District and other local schools, where she specialized in developing engaging, inquiry-based science curricula that make complex concepts accessible and memorable.

Beyond the classroom, Louisa serves on the Board of the Burlingame Library Foundation at the Burlingame Public Library, reflecting her lifelong commitment to education, literacy, and community engagement.

Approach to Tutoring

Louisa believes that effective science education begins with curiosity. Her lessons emphasize hands-on understanding, critical thinking, and meaningful connections between theory and the real world. She adapts her approach to meet each student’s individual needs, fostering both mastery and a lasting appreciation for scientific exploration.

When Not Tutoring

Outside of tutoring, Louisa works as a STEM curriculum writer and content editor, helping to design innovative and accessible educational materials. She enjoys exploring nature, mentoring students interested in medicine and research, and contributing to her community through educational initiatives.
